Dr. Stanley Coren Bio
Dr. Stanley Coren’s body of work and accomplishment has spanned over four decades. Currently a Professor with the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia, his prolific research has resulted in over 300 published works on a number of subjects such as neuropsychology, human vision and hearing, behavior genetics, and cognitive processing. He has also written fourteen books, including “Sensation and Perception”, a standard text book at many universities across North America.
However, Dr. Coren’s greatest personal and professional passion has been understanding and improving the quality of life for dogs and their relationships with humans. Regarded as one the world’s foremost experts on dog behaviour and training, he hosts the program “Good Dog!” on The Pet Network. He has also become well recognized as a guest on a number of U.S. and Canadian network shows including Oprah Winfrey, Good Morning America, the Today Show, CNN, the Fifth Estate, and Larry King, to name just a few.
With the release of The Pet Network’s “Your Dog Companion” DVD series, Dr. Coren has realized a lifelong ambition. Through careful research and planning, the renowned canine behaviourist has developed these intricate DVD presentations of sights and sounds that will comfort, occupy, accompany and even entertain dogs of all ages and breeds. With such a distinguished career, it may be a very strong statement to note that The Pet Network’s “Your Dog Companion” DVD series may be one of Dr. Stanley Coren’s most notable and innovative legacies of a remarkable and distinguished career.
